Deborah Hodder

Artist Statement

Dipping back into my roots as a printmaker, my April 2023 solo show "Heavens And Earth" exemplified my shift from clay to prints and from celebrations of fundamental cosmic forces to the resonances underlying life on Earth. This show juxtaposed clay sculptures of string instruments with mixed media collage prints of flora bursting forth with patterns and texture that celebrated the harmony of nature. And I created an installation of 7 female ceramic relief sculptures depicting the Seven Sisters & Atlas (Pleiades Constellation).

My recent work, "Unfolding" features stand-alone monotypes and triptychs where ceramic relief sculptures are flanked by abstract floral prints that together unify and explore the harmony of Earth's flora and fauna.
