Eye Lounge presents Katherine Del Rosario’s first solo show, Our Solace from December 16, 2022  through January 8th, 2023.

Del Rosario’s paintings examines the manifestations of colonialism through a feminist lens of being a Filipina woman within the diaspora. Some of these manifestations exist amongst women of color, such as the conditions to uphold Catholic, Christian ideologies, outperform motherly, caretaker duties, and challenging whiteness as the pinnacle of beauty standards. She reckons with the lasting effects of colonial and imperialist rule that remain in Filipino culture and seeks to find comfort in resistance, collective unity and empowerment. Del Rosario places herself as a woman in action, as she continues to find solace and liberation amongst the people, land and within her own body.

Katherine Del Rosario is a Filipina-American painter currently based in Tempe, Arizona. She received her BFA in Painting at Arizona State University in 2019. Her work has been shown in New American Paintings, Mesa Community College Art Gallery, Scottsdale Public Library, Re:Found Contemporary, ASU’s Harry Wood Gallery and is a part of the Filipino American Artist Directory. She also works as an Assistant Curator at Modified Arts Gallery in Phoenix.  She has also served as a visual arts instructor for both youth and adult age groups at the Edna Vihel Arts Center and participated on art panels for the City of Tempe.
